ACCLAIMED ASIA “OMEGA” TOUR CONTINUES THIS SPRING IN NORTH AMERICA
(New York, NY) – Frontiers Records is set to release a special edition live CD/DVD box set from supergroup Asia. SPIRIT OF THE NIGHT – THE PHOENIX TOUR LIVE IN CAMBRIDGE 2009 will be released in North America on March 8th. The CD boasts 13 tracks, which includes a CD-only track exclusive, as well as a bonus track, while the DVD features 85 minutes of material, as well as bonus DVD content including an EPK and special footage of “In The Court Of The Crimson King” featuring King Crimson founding member Ian MacDonald. In support of the new live release and their most recent studio album OMEGA (also released via Frontiers Records), Asia will tour in North America, kicking off dates at The State Theatre in Easton, PA on Thursday, April 28th. The Saturday 11th December HMV Birmingham Institute show will not be rescheduled; however, it may still appear on their website. They have spoken to various ticket providers and explained it will not be rescheduled which now entitles the fans to a full refund. Please contact your ticket provider for a full refund |

Happy New Year to all! 2011 is here, and with it come some changes.
First, Dave Gallant, who in the simplest terms handled the Armada email newsletter since its inception and was a conduit between fans and the band, has decided to pursue other goals in life effective Dec. 31, 2010. From the early days of the band's presence on the web, Dave worked tirelessly to champion the music, first as a fan and then later as an official voice. Without a doubt, his efforts helped keep a public interest in Asia and certainly were instrumental in the renewed success the band has experienced since their reunion. While all of us in the Asia camp will miss the professional relationship with Dave, we look forward to continuing our friendship for years to come. Thank you, Dave, and best wishes! (Read Dave's farewell letters here.)
Second, with Dave's "retirement" and the depreciation of email lists as a mass communication tool, the decision was made to discontinue the Armada email newsletter and move to the social media services Twitter and Facebook. The web site also continues to provide a RSS feed that can be subscribed to via readers such as the web-based Google Reader (for those with free Gmail accounts), Firefox and Internet Explorer web browsers (via smart bookmarks), or a multitude of free desktop applications for all platforms. Those that wish to continue to receive updates via email but do not wish to sign up for Twitter or Facebook accounts can do so via a free web service at feedmyinbox.com. Simply enter the web site URL (originalasia.com) and your email address and you will receive daily summaries of any posts to the site.

Many thanks to the legions of Asia fans who attended the 28-date American leg of the Omega tour. This was the 5th US tour of the reunion, and the longest yet! We hope to see you again in 2011.
And with the UK tour in December, we will soon be announcing a VIP program for these upcoming shows. Options will include a meet-and-greet with band members, attending sound check, offers for premium ticket purchases and the ultimate experience - sitting on the actual stage within feet of the band! Quote from Rob Brooks, entertainment manager at Nugget Casinos, as the band take the stage tonight for an annual outdoor rock event sponsored by the Reno Nugget: "We've been doing this event for 17 years and have never known anything like this. There is a crowd which looks like a sea of sand stretching as far as you can see." Box office coordinator Doug Kuehn said, "I think it was when people realized it was the original Asia that the excitement really took off." Rob Brooks added, "50,000 to 60,000 people are here for the show and you can quote me on that." |
